For a separately-managed account (SMA), the minimum initial investment is $100,000. SMAs own a portfolio consisting of individual stocks and fixed income securities (for “balanced” accounts).
Investors with smaller amounts to invest are also important to us. For those folks, we are the investment advisor to a mutual fund.
We utilize Charles Schwab Institutional as our primary qualified custodian, though we also work with other custodians. The custodian serves as an important “firewall” between us and your assets we manage. You give us power of attorney to buy/sell securities and deduct our fee. Period. The custodian will not otherwise transfer or move money or securities out of your account without your express instructions.
Each quarter, clients receive statements prepared by KM detailing holdings, asset allocation, and investment performance. Performance is calculated for the calendar quarter, year-to-date, prior 12-months and since inception of the account.
We believe it’s an important distinction that the professionals at Kirr, Marbach have demonstrated both the extensive experience and technical knowledge required to manage your precious assets by earning the CFP and CFA designations.
Zach Greiner, Director of Client Service, and Maggie Kamman, Director of Operations, hold the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. The main advantage is that they are trained to look at your entire financial life, not just a single product or investment account. CFPs are trained in retirement planning, taxes, investments, insurance, estate planning, education funding, and cash-flow management. They must complete specific coursework, pass a rigorous exam, and meet experience requirements. In addition, CFPs must complete continuing education and adhere to ethical standards.
Similarly, Mark Foster, Chief Investment Officer, Mickey Kim, Chief Operating/Compliance Officer and David Kirr hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The CFA Program is administered by the CFA Institute and the CFA charter has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world. To earn a CFA charter, you must have four years of qualified investment work experience, become a member of CFA Institute, pledge to adhere to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct on an annual basis, apply for membership to a local CFA member society and complete the CFA Program, which reflects a broad Candidate Body of Knowledge™ (CBOK) developed and continuously updated by active practitioners to ensure that charterholders possess knowledge grounded in the real world of today’s global investment industry.”
